IT Lab Notes

1 min read

My IT support portfolio, in Slovak, at it.marianholly.com. Everything on it comes out of my homelab: I break something on purpose, diagnose it, fix it, and write it up.

  • Tickets follow one format: symptom → diagnosis → cause → fix → prevention, dead ends included. Examples: a GPO that won’t apply, a broken trust relationship between a client and the domain, a print spooler outage.
  • Runbooks for routine checks: AD replication, backups, Windows health, DNS zones and SRV records, checkpoint management, the PDC emulator’s time source.
  • Knowledge base articles written for end users, like resetting an AD password or freeing up disk space.
  • Notes explaining the concepts behind the work: DNS, Kerberos and time, share vs. NTFS permissions, BitLocker recovery, MFA and conditional access, ITIL for helpdesk.
